Every June, brands across the world switch their logos to vibrant rainbows. You’ll see them on websites, LinkedIn headers, coffee cups, and email signatures. And while it’s easy to be cynical about this, to write it off as ‘rainbow washing’, I believe there’s still value in showing up visibly and proudly for the LGBTQ+ community.
At ResourceiT, we choose to mark Pride Month because we know visibility matters. Representation matters. It tells our team, our clients, our partners and future talent that we see them, we value them, and we stand with them.
But this is important: showing up for Pride cannot begin and end with a colourful logo.
Pride is a Protest. Pride is a Celebration. Pride is a Call to Action.
Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall Uprising of 1969, a pivotal moment in the LGBTQ+ rights movement. It’s a time to honour the progress made, recognise the challenges still faced, and celebrate the incredible courage and contribution of LGBTQ+ people.
It’s also a reminder that inclusion isn’t something to be ticked off a list each June. It must be embedded in how we hire, how we lead, how we speak, and how we show up every day, not just when it’s trending.
Rainbow Logos: Performative or Powerful?
There’s often a lot of noise around whether businesses should change their logos during Pride. Some say it’s virtue signalling. Others argue it’s important solidarity.
Here’s our take: visibility matters when it’s underpinned by action.
Changing your logo to a rainbow isn’t enough, but it can be a valuable signal when it reflects a deeper commitment. At ResourceiT, it’s a visible marker of what we stand for, backed by ongoing education, inclusive policies, safe spaces, and allyship that doesn’t switch off on 1st July.
So yes, change your logo. And then ask: what else are we doing?
What Businesses Can (and Should) Do for Pride – and Always
If you’re a business leader wondering how to meaningfully engage with Pride Month, here are some actions that matter:
- Educate your people. Run internal sessions or share stories, creating space for lived experience is powerful.
- Audit your policies. Are they inclusive? Do they actively support LGBTQ+ employees? If not, fix them.
- Be a vocal ally. Share content, donate to LGBTQ+ charities, and speak up when it counts, not just when it’s comfortable.
- Celebrate your people. Pride is a great time to lift LGBTQ+ voices, showcase team stories, and amplify diverse perspectives.
- Build it into your culture. Pride shouldn’t be a seasonal campaign. Inclusion should be a daily commitment.
Pride at ResourceiT
At ResourceiT, we are proud to be a workplace where every individual can be their authentic self and where difference is genuinely celebrated. I know what this month means to some of our team members, and I’m so proud of their openness, strength, and voices.
Pride Month reminds us that inclusion is a journey, not a destination. And while a rainbow logo won’t change the world, being a visibly proud, inclusive, and supportive business just might.
Happy Pride, from all of us at ResourceiT 🌈
