Every great team has that one person who seems to quietly hold the whole thing together. At ResourceiT, that person is Rebecca Cackett, thoughtful, calm (at least on the outside), and always ready to throw herself into something new.
Voted Employee of the Year 2025 by her colleagues, Rebecca’s recognition couldn’t have come at a better time. In the middle of high-pressure campaigns and constant creative challenges, she’s found her voice, honed her skills, and by her own admission, learned to just get on with it.
We caught up with her to ask a few questions about her journey this year, what makes her tick, and why Bohemian Rhapsody might just be the perfect soundtrack to her working day…
What’s something you’ve done this year at ResourceiT that made you think, “Yes, this is exactly why I do this job”?
The Cloud Direct demand generation campaign. It was the first time I’d worked on anything like that, and I was really aware that demand gen wasn’t an area I had loads of experience in, so I just said yes, and threw myself into the deep end.
It was very much ‘learn as you go’, working closely with the demand gen team. And in the end, we got the best campaign results we’ve ever had. That made it even better, because we adapted so much along the way. Since then, I’ve been involved in a few more, and I’ve found myself having conversations with clients where I think, ‘Oh wow, I actually sound like I know what I’m talking about!’
That’s when I knew I’d grown, and I’m so glad I said yes.
What’s been your proudest moment at ResourceiT this year?
Probably my first few weeks, when I’d just joined and ended up covering Stefi’s holiday. I launched one of our biggest ever campaigns while she was away. I don’t know how I ended up doing it, but I did! And when she came back, everything was fine. That really set the tone for the rest of the year.
What’s the best piece of marketing advice you’ve ever received – or given?
Something I always come back to is this: even in B2B marketing, you’re still marketing to people. We can get caught up in jargon or technicality, but ultimately, there’s a human at the end of everything we do. That emotional connection matters.
What’s one myth about marketing you’d happily bust forever?
That a one-size-fits-all approach works. It doesn’t. Every campaign, every client, every audience – they all need something different.
If you could steal one skill or superpower from a teammate, what would it be?
Oh, definitely Stefania’s ability to work so methodically and logically. She can just look at something and instantly know what needs to happen. She’s so structured. I’m a bit more off-the-wall – so I’d love to have that calm, clear process in my brain!”
What do you love most about your job?
The people, without a doubt. The team around me genuinely inspires me. Everyone brings different skills and approaches and that always pushes me to be better. I learn from them constantly.
What song would be the soundtrack to your working day?
Bohemian Rhapsody – 100%. The beginning of the day is lovely and calm… and then around 4pm, chaos hits. That’s exactly how it feels most days!
If you could swap jobs with anyone at ResourceiT for a day, who would it be?
Ben, for sure. He’s just a genius. Whatever the topic or client, he just gets it straight away. I’m sometimes still processing it all while he’s already three steps ahead. I’d love to see how his brain works.
What’s something your colleagues would be surprised to know about you?
I’m not as calm as I appear! I might look like I’ve got it together, but inside? Chaos.
If your marketing style were a coffee or cocktail, what would it be?
A flat white. Classic, calm, consistent and strong. That’s what I try to bring to everything I do.
What’s your secret to staying organised and calm under pressure?
Fake it ‘til you make it. Whatever’s going on, there’s no avoiding it – so you’ve just got to crack on. There’s no point in flapping or burying your head in the sand.
What does being voted Employee of the Year mean to you?
It means everything. Especially because there’ve been some challenging campaigns recently, and I’ve had moments of self-doubt. So this recognition came at the perfect time, it was a real confidence boost.
The fact that it’s employee-voted makes it even more meaningful. It shows that the people I work with enjoy working with me, and that matters a lot to me. I want to make people feel supported and happy. That’s a big part of why I do what I do.
We couldn’t agree more. Congratulations, Rebecca, your calm strength, dry wit, and fearless attitude make you a joy to work with. Flat whites all round. ☕
